Cedar Grove is located to the south of Jimboomba. When the Beaudesert Railway was built in 1888, the station was known as Cedar Pocket. Most of the land to the west of Cedar Pocket was initially selected by the Markwell family, some of which was later purchased by William Geddes.

Educational institutions began in 1993 with the establishment of Cedar Grove State School.

The population of Cedar Grove according to the 2011 census recorded a population of 2,020 people living there.

The areas that surround Cedar Grove include suburbs Riverbend, Glenlogan, Kagaru, Jimboomba, Allenview, Woodhill and Cedar Vale.
