About Greenbank

In March 2008 Greenbank became a suburb within Logan City rather than divided between the Shire of Beaudesert and Logan City. The size of Greenbank is approximately 49 kilometres and has 7 parks covering almost 18% of the total area.

Greenbank was first settled in early 1840 by Peter Jackson and Jack Slack. The two ran a horse trading business in South Brisbane. Jack Slack and brother William Slack leased land in Slacks Creek to run horses, and later Jackson and Jack slack did a partnership at Greenbank.

From the 1800’s farming, dairying and timber were the main industries in the region. At this time only a hotel named Teviot existed on the corner of Pub Lane and teviot Road. During 1893 Greenbank Provisional School was built by volunteer labour and became Greenbank State School in 1909. However, closed between 1943 and 1950 due to a decline of students. Greenbank State School then reopened and now has approximately 1,117 students enrolled with 72 teachers.

The population of Greenbank according to the 2011 census recorded 7,328 people living there- 29.4% of females and 50.6% of male. The median age of the population of Greenbank was 36 Years.

The areas that surround Greenbank include Heathwood, Forest Dale, Forest Lake, Camira, Carole Park, Springfield, Springfield Lakes, Boronia Heights, Park Ridge, Spring Mountain, New Beith, Munruben & North Maclean.

Residential at Greenbank are often larger acreage blocks, accompanied with large trees. It is important to do maintenance to these trees to minimise potential damage to homes. Call Treesafe today for tree lopping and pruning services.

It is important to note that a council permit may be required in order to remove a tree depending on whether it is protected by a Vegetation Protection Order (VPO). You will need to contact your local council for more information on removing a tree. Alternatively, you can ring Treesafe for more information or advice on VPO’s. See our contact list below:
