Marden is a suburb located in Logan City, Queensland. According to the 2016 census the suburb has a population of approximately 14,000 people. Marsden is named after Violet Marsden who was a member of a pioneer family, associated with the Districts Progress Association and Kingston Park.
Marsden was originally part of Kingston, and during the 1870s the land between Browns Plains and Scrubby Creek was owned by Richard Leo and T. W. Daly. The land was subdivided, however was not occupied until the 1930s. The land between what is now First and Fifth Avenues was divided into small farms in 1944 by Mr Bill Anderson. Today, most of Marsden has been developed into suburban housing estates.
Marsden is home to the Marsden Library which opened in 2006 and had a major refurbishment in 2015.
Educational institutions began with Marsden State School that opened in 1978 and caters from Prep- Year 6 and has 1014 enrolled students. As well as Marsden High School and Burrowes State School that opened that both opened in 1987.
