About Underwood

Underwood is suburb situated south-east of the Brisbane central business district. The suburb is apart of the Logan City Council. According to the 2011 census the population of Underwood is 5,328 people.

Underwood gets its name from an early settler of the name of William Underwood who was a landholder in the Eight Mile Plains district from 1865. William Underwood established the Commercial Hotel on his land during the 1870’s through to 1895.

Underwood is bounded by Underwood Road, Millers Road, Logan Road, the South- East Freeway and Compton Road. The suburb includes major shopping and industrial precincts, the Australian Football Club, the mail exchange, the Logan Aquatic Centre and residential estates.

Underwood has a business centre known which is a mixed-use urban development area combining Slacks Creek/ Underwood industrial estate as well as commerce, retail and office establishments.
