Helensvale is suburb within the Gold Coast, Queensland. The suburb is named after Helerns White. According to the 2016 census, Helensvale recorded a population of 16,862 people.
The suburb was the name given to a sugar plantation in the area. The plantation was established around 1870 by Arthur Robinson and Ernest White. Helena was the name of White’s youngest sister.
The suburb was the first suburb to be built on the hinterland fringe of the Gold Coast. The first residents were welcomed during the 1980s with a shopping centre, golf course, primary and secondary state schools, bowls club and parks.
Helensvale is home to a railway station located near the Helensvale Westfield Shopping Centre. The railway station includes a bus interchnage and a light rail stop and is the only place on the Gold Coast where buses, trains and trams interconnect.
