About Wongawallan

Our expert arborists are close to your area regularly. For all arborist services including tree removal, lopping and pruning in Wongawallan please give us a call today.

Wongawallan is a rural suburb located in the Gold Coast, Queensland. Wongawallan is 25 kilometres to Southport and 68 kilometres to Brisbane. According to the 2011 Australian census, the suburb recorded a population of 1,103 people.

The area was formerly named Mt Goulburn after Henry Goulburn. However, the area was renamed Wongawallan, which is believed to be an Aboriginal word where Wonga means pigeon and Walla meaning water. It has also been said that Wongawallan is named after an Aboriginal man nicknamed “Peter” who killed a settler called John Wilkinson at Wongawallan Creek in 1876.

The suburb is mountainous terrain with most residential development and farming occurring in the creek valley with the hilltops being largely undeveloped. The two main creeks in the area are Wongawallan Creek and Tamborine Creek- with Tamborine Creek joining Wongawallan Creek.

Residential at Wongawallan are often larger acreage blocks, accompanied with large trees. By caring for and maintaining your trees, you contribute to the trees health so they can live longer and avoid potential damage to your home as well as fences. Regular tree care and maintenance will help to recognize potential problems and address any issues before damage occurs.  To avoid potential damage to your home, and to keep your trees healthy please contact Treesafe today to provide expert maintenance services.

It is important to note that a council permit may be required in order to remove a tree depending on whether it is protected by a Vegetation Protection Order (VPO). You will need to contact your local council for more information on removing a tree. Alternatively, you can ring Treesafe for more information or advice on VPO’s. See our contact list below:
